The Hurt Locker beats Avatar at the Oscars 2010

Avatar is now commonly known as the most successful movie of all times. This might be one of the reasons why James Cameron's 3D masterpiece had too high expectations at the 82nd Academy Awards.
It has been a long battle bewteen Kathryn Bigalow's The Hurt Locker and (her ex-husband) James Cameron's Avatar. Last night, we finally had a winner.

The Hurt Locker and Avatar were both nominated for nine Oscars. Surprisingly, the result was 6:3 in the end. Shortly before the Oscars had started, Nick Chartier, co-producer of the anti-war-movie, made headlines for writing e-mails to the Academy, asking them to please vote for their movie, and not for Avatar.
